Accueil » Blog » IE 9.1. Total energy consumption

IE 9.1 of the France Invest ESG Reporting Framework focuses on a company’s total energy consumption, recording all energy used directly over a given reporting period.

1. How to answer this question ?

To answer this question, companies must calculate the total amount of energy consumed in kilowatt-hours (kWh). This includes both purchased and internally produced energy, including fuel for machinery, electricity for offices, and energy used for heating and cooling. The figure should be rounded to the first decimal for reporting accuracy.

2. Why is it important ?

Measuring energy consumption is crucial for identifying areas where energy efficiency can be improved and for developing strategies to reduce costs and environmental impacts. It also helps evaluate the company’s environmental performance and comply with regulations.

3. Examples :

– Example A: “Last year, our company consumed 1,000,000 kWh of energy, including operating our production facilities and offices.”

– Example B: “Our total energy consumption for this reporting year amounted to 500,000 kWh, a 5% reduction from last year due to our energy efficiency efforts.”

By providing accurate data on their energy consumption, companies can demonstrate their commitment to sustainable and responsible operation.
